The young comic artist fled to the North Sea island of Helgoland to escape her violent ex-boyfriend, Danny. The last few months have left their mark; she has lost weight, and scars on her face are the result of acid Danny added to her face cream. Even worse are the effects on her psyche. The slightest signs make her fear that she is being followed, that someone has broken into her house. As a result, she rarely manages to enjoy working on her first comic story; paranoia usually takes over. But is it really just imagination that the towel she was about to dry herself with is damp, meaning it must have been used in her shower recently? And shortly after, she finds a dead body on the beach…
